Staff Update

Edgewood Welcomes Our New Children's Ministry Director

An exciting staff search update was announced during the weekend worship services on June 15/16, after a nationwide search, God has provided Marcy Kongkousonh as our next Director of Children’s Ministry.

We’ve been partnering with Vanderbloemen, our ministry search consultants, while seeking God’s provision for this key position. Over 500 people viewed our job listing, 119 individuals reached out about the position, 8 candidates were interviewed by phone, 6 were interviewed in person, 5 candidates were presented to us, and God revealed the right one for us!

Marcy leads our Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group and is married to Souk. They have two grown children, Micah and Abi.

Marcy has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. This past year, she taught second grade at Quad Cities Christian School. Marcy served as the Assistant Children’s Director at Youth Hope for five years before becoming the Director of the Moline Center for three years, where she was responsible for all the children's activities, including after-school programs, children’s choir, and Summer Day Camps. She was also responsible for teen programs, including evening programs at the center as well as discipleship. Tasks included studying and preparing weekly lessons, coordinating volunteers, overseeing a tutoring program, and marketing and promoting children/youth activities.

Marcy will begin her full-time ministry on July 1. Sheila Kuriscak, who has served in this position for 23 years, will be working through the end of August to help train her. Beginning September 1, Sheila will transition to serve part-time as our Director of Women’s Ministries.
